Hasan died only two weeks after our meeting. He managed to survive the massacre in Srebrenica by taking to the mountains and walking the 20kms through the wild to Tusla. It was the lack of medical care that ended up taking his life. He leaves behind a wife and teenage son. These are stories we are starting to hear everywhere in modern Bosnia.

We first met with Hasan and Hajra in the Srebrenica mountain home. Hasan was very sick and had no medicine left. Winter was setting in, it was a 5 hour round trip into the town.
